Restoration of historical tapestry „Woman carrying fruit“ (night scene), probably Brussels, 2nd half of the 17th century, 380 x 235 cm, wool and silk weft, wool warp guided horizontally, warp density 9 warp threads to 1 cm. Tapestry was incomplete, missing its right side, including the border. It was restored in our studios by experienced restorers from May 2009 to April 2011, in the following work steps:

  • dismantling of the lining and added parts
  • wet cleaning based on the results of tests for color fastness
  • restoration of the surfaces of the tapestry by reversible method called skeletáže on linen cloth with visual integration in the area.
  • finishing sewing work, hanging the tapestry by using zipVELCRO, adjustment in the exhibition hall

Tapestry is part of the collection of the State Chateau in Nachod, where it can be seen along with other quality historical tapestries. By this we recommend to visit the Chateau in Náchod.
